Free document tool
Free parser to extract structured invoice JSON for APIs and apps
Turn one invoice into JSON you can inspect before your code sees it.
Upload an invoice PDF or photo. The tool extracts document fields and line-item rows, then lets you compare each value with the source before JSON export. Use the download as input to your mapper, not as a permanent application schema.

JSON, CSV and Excel downloads are included on Free after signup, within Free plan limits. See Free limits.
Anonymous originals stay in browser storage, not cloud file storage. Extraction may send document content to the selected AI provider.

What is included in the invoice JSON export?
Dynamite Docs extracts invoice fields and item rows from a PDF, scan, or photo. Review the values beside the invoice, then export JSON containing column definitions, row data, and document metadata.
The product export keeps inferred columns, repeating rows, and extraction metadata separate so a developer can map the reviewed values into an application-owned schema.
How do you convert an invoice PDF into structured JSON for API and ERP pipelines?
Use Invoice to JSON when engineering teams need a verified invoice JSON payload to design an integration, inspect document fields, or prototype an ERP ingestion mapper. Before processing, determine which fields belong in document metadata versus repeating line-item arrays, and establish required property constraints.
During review, cross-reference supplier identity, buyer details, invoice number, issue date, currency, tax amounts, and line items with the source document. Ensure numeric values maintain decimal precision, dates adhere to ISO 8601 formatting, and string fields preserve leading zeros in tax IDs or purchase order codes.
Use Free Invoice OCR when testing whether an obscure scan or layout can be parsed before working with JSON. Use PDF to JSON for non-invoice documents like operational logs or government forms. When moving to automated production pipelines requiring API authentication, webhooks, idempotency keys, and saved corrections, integrate via the REST API and invoice accounting workflow.

Dynamite Docs keeps the source and structured result in one review workspace. Infer document fields and repeating rows, correct values against the page, inspect warnings and export the accepted result.
This is more than a plain OCR transcript. The result separates fields, line items, totals and notes so a person can check the structure before sending data to Excel, CSV, JSON, Google Sheets, Google Drive, a webhook or the API.

What the invoice JSON contains
- Document metadata identifies the extraction and source context without mixing it into each invoice line.
- Column definitions describe the inferred fields, while rows carry repeating line-item values in a predictable array.
- Nulls, numbers, dates, and strings need explicit downstream validation because an inferred field can vary across invoice layouts.
- Supplier, buyer and invoice identity can be mapped separately from repeating lines. This avoids duplicating header fields in every item object and makes document-level validation easier to explain.
- The reviewed export represents the product's extraction structure, not a universal invoice schema. Your mapper decides property names, nesting, required fields, enumerations and whether absent values become null, an empty string or an omitted property.
- Raw identifiers should remain strings so leading zeroes and punctuation survive serialization. Decimal amounts need an explicit precision rule, and dates should not become timestamps until the intended locale and timezone are known.
Invoice fields to map into your JSON schema
These are example field mappings, not guaranteed export keys. The download contains columns, rows and document metadata for your application to map.
- supplier.name: Northstar Office Supply
- buyer.name: Riverbend Trading Ltd
- invoice_number: INV-0842
- invoice_date: 2026-08-28
- currency: USD
- tax.total: 196.00
- total: 2646.00
- rows[]: Line-item records with inferred column names
Extract first, then decide what to keep
- Upload and extract one invoice without creating an account.
- Review low-confidence values beside the source document.
- JSON, CSV and Excel downloads are included on Free after signup, within Free plan limits.
- Starter and above add stored files, batch jobs and connected exports. Email intake requires Pro or Scale. File and processing limits depend on your plan.

Treat the schema as part of the contract
Check property names, date formats, decimal values, nulls, and the line-item array before connecting the JSON to production code. The inferred schema can vary with the document.
Cases that need manual review
- A downstream schema may expect nested supplier objects while the reviewed export uses table columns and metadata.
- Blank discounts or purchase-order references can arrive as null, an empty string, or an omitted mapped property unless the integration normalizes them.
- Decimal precision and date formats can change meaning when code coerces reviewed strings without validation.
- Two suppliers may use the same field label for different meanings, so a name-based mapping can pass technical validation while carrying the wrong business value.
- A multi-page line table can repeat headers or lose a row at the page boundary, producing valid JSON with incomplete invoice detail.
- A schema change can break consumers even when the extracted invoice is correct. Version the mapper and reject unexpected properties or types before production use.
- Prototype an invoice ingestion API
- Inspect an invoice schema before writing a mapper
- Prepare a sample payload for automation

Invoice workflow next steps
- Test invoice OCR first: Check whether the source layout, scan, and line items can be read.
- Process recurring invoice batches: Add stored files, saved corrections, reviewers, and repeatable exports.
- Map GST invoice JSON: Handle GSTIN roles, tax components, null states, and nested line items.
- Use the document extraction API: Add authentication, stable mapping, retries, idempotency, and delivery checks.

Is the JSON schema fixed?
By default, the tool infers a schema from the invoice. In the full workspace you can define or save a reviewed schema when downstream code needs stable property names.
Are line items returned as an array?
The JSON download includes a rows array, column definitions and document metadata. Invoice line-item field names depend on the extracted schema; a line_items key is not guaranteed.
Can I use the result in an API?
Yes after review. Validate the JSON against your own schema and business rules before sending it to accounting, payment, or tax systems.
How should amounts and dates be represented?
Keep the reviewed source value available, then apply an explicit mapping rule. Use decimal-safe handling for money, preserve currency separately, and normalize a date only after confirming its source format. Avoid turning invoice numbers, tax identifiers or purchase-order references into numbers.
How do I keep integrations stable across supplier layouts?
Map each reviewed extraction into your own versioned contract rather than exposing inferred columns directly to production code. Validate required fields and types, reject unexpected changes, and keep a dead-letter or exception path for documents that do not meet the contract.
