You can use the browser workspace without installing the Windows companion. Install the companion when you want local model inference through Ollama. The current direct-download release is an unsigned beta x64 installer, and Ollama and model installation are separate steps.
Before installing on Windows 10 or Windows 11, check the requirements of the current companion release and the Ollama runtime. This project has not recorded completed installation and extraction tests on both systems. A package minimum-version setting is not a compatibility test.
Workspace and runtime setup
Browser workspace
Use the web workspace for upload, source review, corrections, and exports. Hosted AI and cloud provider keys do not require the Ollama companion.
Windows companion
The shipped beta runs the loopback bridge as an Electron tray app. You do not need Node.js or the source repository to use the installer.
Ollama runtime and model
Install Ollama separately and choose a model suitable for your inputs. Hardware needs vary by model, and image extraction requires a route that accepts image inputs.
Installation readiness checklist
These are setup checks, not certified minimum hardware or operating-system requirements.
| Item | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Current release and runtime requirements; Windows 10/11 testing pending |
| Installer | Current size, SHA-256 hash, and unsigned beta notice |
| Account | Signed-in plan with local Ollama capability |
| Local model | Installed runtime, suitable model, and available memory |
Check before connecting
- Open the Windows beta download page and record the current installer SHA-256 hash.
- After download, compare the file hash with the published value. In PowerShell, use Get-FileHash with the downloaded installer path and -Algorithm SHA256.
- Review the unsigned beta notice and your organization’s software policy before proceeding with the installer.
- Confirm that Ollama is running and that the selected model is available before connecting the workspace.
Set up and test extraction
Download and verify the beta
Use the direct Windows beta page. Compare the received installer hash with the current published checksum. If the checksum differs, stop and obtain a fresh download.
Install and start the companion
Run the installer after checking the release notice. Start the companion from the installed application and confirm that the tray bridge is running.
Set up Ollama separately
Follow the linked local AI guide to connect the runtime and a suitable model. Use the workspace AI settings while signed in on an eligible plan.
Test a representative document
Select the local route and extract one supported file. Compare dates, identifiers, table boundaries, and amounts with the original before exporting accepted rows.
Use the accepted output
Review and export in the browser workspace after the local extraction completes. If the bridge is unreachable, check whether the companion and runtime are running, then reconnect through the AI settings. Do not silently switch a sensitive document to a cloud route without reviewing that processing choice.
Processing choices and allowances
Choose hosted AI, your own provider keys, or local Ollama on an eligible plan. Each successfully processed hosted page uses one PE. Free and Hobby BYOK use the same PE allowance; Pro and Ultra BYOK cost zero PE, with provider charges and limits still applying. Failed pages cost zero PE.
Check current plans, page limits, and capabilities and review storage and data-residency policies before processing sensitive records. Local model inference is a separate choice from browser-local file storage.
Workflow boundaries
- Windows 10 and Windows 11 compatibility remains unverified until installation and extraction tests are recorded on each system.
- The Microsoft Store link is pending. The direct installer’s release details apply to the beta channel.
- Local inference still uses account access and usage reporting; this guide does not promise an entirely offline workflow.

Questions about this workflow
Has installation been tested on both Windows 10 and Windows 11?
Completed tests on both systems have not been recorded. Check the current release and runtime requirements and treat this as beta setup guidance.
Do I need the installer to use hosted AI?
No. The installer is for the local Ollama companion. Hosted extraction and cloud provider keys are available through the browser workspace.
